Nobody's Child

Nobody’s Child

Look for me in the slums of Methare
Find me sleeping in the gutters of Eastleigh
Begging for a shilling on the streets of Nairobi
Nobody’s child
Pain that touches me oh so deep
Eyes so dry I cannot weep
Walking a path that’s far too steep
Nobody’s child
None to give me food or shelter
Gone the touch of a loving mother
Alone, the brutal fact of the matter
Nobody’s child
Voiceless I cry out – no one is listening
Invisible I walk about – none are caring
Darkness surrounds – though sun is shining
On nobody’s child
Hoping to find what I’m constantly seeking
Freedom and hope and a future believing
That one day a new name I’ll be receiving
Somebody’s child
Raising the banner of hope for tomorrow
I’m ready to work hard on lessons to follow
If given the chance then you’ll be my hero…
Our child
